As you know, JR was taking part in the finale of the EuroPro Tour at Desert Springs, Almeria, Spain, 24th – 26th October. Our club Pro Colin went out to caddie for him. After the first round JR was one shot off the lead and this was with a bogey on the 17th and 18th! A great first round. The second didn’t go to plan and JR tumbled down the leaderboard. He was still playing well but in any professional competition in golf it is the finest margins from turning a round into a great round. Sadly it didn’t happen for him. However on the final round he was able to produce golf which pulled him back up to finish with a -3 score on the day and finish tied 24th. So near but so far.
Colin Farr said “I didn’t give it a second thought and was a pleasure to go out and caddie for JR. As he walked onto the 1st tee and his name is called out John-Ross Galbraith from Whitehead Golf Club, Northern Ireland it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. I was so proud to have someone from our club playing on a tour event like this”. So roll on next year and let’s hope that JR continues to make us all proud representing Whitehead GC on the EuroPro Tour and hopefully leading to much greater things.
Just a quick update on above. In the Algarve Tour in Palmares in Portugal, JR shoots 2 rounds of 66 to finish 12 under! Incredible scoring. He finishes 2nd and what a step in the right direction to build on. I am sure we all look forward to his new season and wish him all the best.
