WHITEHEAD GOLF CLUB
Update From Management Committee
MEMBERS UPDATE 26 March 2020
Recent Government instructions on managing coronavirus and the subsequent GUI/ILGU recommendation led to the very regrettable decision to close the course. The decision was not made lightly and followed the recent closure of the bar and restaurant facilities. Your golf club is in a lockdown status but this update will provide members with what is or has been happening in the background.
Course maintenance –
Our green keepers remain working on the normal tasks of maintaining the course so that it will be in top class condition when play resumes.
The office remains open with Shelagh managing our financial arrangements and can be contacted only by phone or email.
Catering, Bar and Cleaners –
Alan, Pauline, Billy, Mary and Monica will be returning to the Club as soon as it is safe to do so.
Golf Professional –
Colin has closed his retail operation and will return when safe to do so.
The financial impact for the Club is likely to be significant with the loss of takings across all usual income streams and we ask those members who have not yet paid their annual subscription, to do so expediently. Through our professional advisors the Club is scrutinizing financial aid packages offered by the Government and separately we understand the GUI/ILGU are engaging with relevant bodies to make representation on behalf of their member clubs. We are taking positive action to manage our cash flow.
Your loyalty and support through these challenging times is vital to ensure the survival of your Club.
We will continue to provide updates to keep members fully briefed on Club actions and performance as we move forward.
